How to use it
What you actually get — straight answer
You get your new donor bonus. Octapharma advertises up to $750 across your first several donations, and third-party trackers have seen $500–$1,000 during strong promos. That's yours either way.
The referral bonus pays the referrer — $25 after your first donation, $25 after your second, up to $50 total. We're not going to pretend otherwise.
So why scan it? Because it costs you nothing. Using a referral doesn't reduce your new donor bonus, doesn't slow your payout, and doesn't change your eligibility. Octapharma explicitly caps nothing — their FAQ states there's no limit to how many people a donor can refer. If you're signing up anyway, the code is free to use and it supports the site that told you what the pay actually is.
Why Octapharma's referral works differently
Grifols gives you a typed code that auto-fills on DonorHub during online registration. CSL gives you an alphanumeric code you enter in-app. Octapharma gives you a QR that a human has to scan in person.
That makes it slightly less convenient — you can't paste it into an online signup form — but it isn't restrictive. Octapharma's published requirements are only that you're a first-time donor and that you provide the code at initial registration. There's no center lock and no referral cap.
Practically: the QR is the whole mechanism. There's no typed Octapharma code to hunt for, so if a site offers you one as text, it isn't real.

Does Octapharma have a referral code?
Not a typed one. Octapharma uses a referral QR generated in the OctaApp under "Refer a Friend." New donors have it scanned by staff at registration.
Can I use it at any Octapharma center?
Yes. The only published requirements are that you're a first-time Octapharma donor and that the code is provided during initial registration. Octapharma's referral email tells new donors to look up whichever center is closest.
Will it reduce my new donor bonus?
No. The new donor promotion and the referral bonus are separate. Using a referral doesn't shrink, delay, or replace your bonus.
When is it too late?
Once your donor profile is created. It generally can't be applied retroactively, so raise it before the front desk finishes registering you.
How much is the Octapharma referral bonus?
